Nestled on ‘The Cleave’ in the quaint village of Kingsand, The Devonport Inn has one of the best views from any pub in Cornwall.
Overlooking Kingsand and Cawsand Bay with yachts and fishing boats bobbing on the sea, you can see the Devon coastline stretching away to your left and pretty Penlee Point to your right.
This very bay is where The Devonport Inn sources most of its fish and seafood. You can often see Jerome the Head Chef bringing in his catch in the mornings alongside one of their fishermen (affectionately known to locals as ‘Bumps’).
Depending on the time of year you can expect to find on their menus Pilchards, Mackerel, Herring, Plaice, Lobster and Crab all from the bay. From a little further down the Cornish coast they also have Scallops, Mussels and Oysters.
As well as seafood there are plenty of other stunning, homemade dishes to choose from including handmade Cornish pasties, pates with chutney, fresh soups, sandwiches, salads and ploughman’s; all can be enjoyed at lunchtime on their outdoor tables whilst soaking up the sunshine.
In the evening they offer Devon Red Ribeye steaks with beef dripping chips, risottos, whole baked Camemberts, racks of lamb and traditional French dishes including Cassoulet, confit duck leg and Bouillabaisse.
Cosy Winters by the fire
In the winter you can snuggle in by the roaring log fire with a glass of mulled wine or warm, spiced cider and enjoy lots of local game dishes including homemade venison sausages, game pie, roasted pheasant, and whole partridge.
The most important bit
Drinks!! With real local ales, refreshing ciders and lagers, glasses of sparkling wine and Champagne or wines from their amazing list no-one will be disappointed.
